COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. 396.-The following amendment of the l'ension Minute which appears in the General Orders of the Hongkong Government is published for information.

The Pension Minute is amended by the deletion of clause No. 13 and the substitu- tion therefor of the following:-

"No. 13.

1. In the case of abolition of the office of an officer who is borne on the Fixed Establishment of the Colony the pension or gratuity grantable to such officer will be as follows:-

(a) If the officer has completed one hundred and twenty months gross service he may be granted a pension of one-seven-hundred-and-twentieth of his salary for each month of his service counting for pension in accordance with clause No. 11, with an addition to such service of one month for each complete period of two months' service so counting for pension; in no case shall the addition exceed one hundred and twenty months, and in no case shall the number of months to be added to the actual service exceed that which, if added to the age of the officer, would bring that age up to sixty years. This paragraph (a) deals completely with the ascertainment of the amount of pension grantable in the case aforesaid, accordingly no increase or addition-for example the five-sixtieths of salary mentioned in clause No. 1 paragraph 1 sub-paragraph (2)—shall be made.

(b) If the officer has not completed one hundred and twenty months' gross service he may be granted a gratuity of one-twelfth of a month's salary for each month of service counting for pension in accordance with clause No. 11, plus an addition of fifty per cent. thereon.

2. An officer who is granted a pension or gratuity under this clause shall be liable to be recalled to the public service for re-employment."

30th July, 1926,

W. T. SOUTBORN,

Colonial Secretary.
